Custom Framing FAQs
What is "Custom Framing"?
Each framed piece we produce is individually designed and made to order for your artwork or object, built to your specifications and satisfaction. You might think of it as custom furniture that’s created to protect and feature your art.
Apart from box mounting and art and frame restoration, all work is done on the premises by Color Wheel’s talented and experienced framing team. We take pride in creating a finished product that is the perfect combination of your vision and our expertise.
How long does custom framing take?
Custom framing is generally completed in 3 weeks, which includes time to receive the materials for each project. If you have a special deadline we are happy to accommodate you.
How much does custom framing cost?
The main factors in the price of framing are size and frame choice. With over 3,000 frame moldings and 500 mat colors and textures, the potential combinations are so vast that it’s not possible to estimate a price. We will, of course, work within your budget.
Can you frame my . . . ?
Yes! Over the years Color Wheel has been entrusted to frame heirlooms, collectibles, and valuable works of art. Our framers have mounted, framed, and shadowboxed everything from wedding veils to cowboy spurs. You may be confident that your military medals, needlework, architectural tiles, or priceless baseball card collection can be safely and beautifully framed here.
Bring on the unusual objects – we love a challenge!
How will custom framing protect my artwork?
Color Wheel uses only archival materials to frame your artwork. Mat and backing boards are acid- and lignin-free, which keeps them from emitting harmful gases that deteriorate artwork. We use specially treated glass and Plexiglas that screen out 98% of UV light, to keep your art from fading.
Framers are constantly learning. We employ the latest methods and materials in order to preserve the condition of your art.
